Turns your notch into an AirDrop replacement that talks to every platform. Droppy speaks the open LocalSend protocol, so files fly between this Mac and any phone, tablet, or PC running the free LocalSend app, entirely over your local network with no cloud in between. Send from share menus and quick action tiles; incoming transfers ask first, support a PIN, and land in your folder and on the shelf.

How to use it

  1. Install the free LocalSend app on the other device. It exists for iOS, Android, Windows and Linux, and Droppy speaks the same open protocol.
  2. Send from the Shelf, the Basket or a Quick Action tile. Both devices need to be on the same network.
  3. Incoming transfers ask before they land. Set a PIN if you want a second check, and choose where received files are saved.

Workflows

AirDrop to an Android phone

Pick the device, send, accept on the phone. No cloud, no account, and the file never leaves the local network.

Get a file off a Windows PC

Received files land in your chosen folder and, if you like, on the Shelf, ready to be dragged wherever they are going.

Tips

  • Discovery can be turned off so this Mac does not advertise itself. Sending still works while hidden.
  • Encrypted transfers use a self-signed certificate created once on this Mac. Plain HTTP is only there for old clients that cannot do TLS.
  • It needs Local Network access in System Settings, Privacy and Security.
