Pairing and sync
Droppy for iPhone is a companion to Droppy on the Mac. Scan one code and your clipboard, files, notes, OCR grabs and cloud links are on your phone, end to end encrypted.
The app is free on TestFlight while it is in beta. Syncing needs an active Droppy license on the Mac you pair with. It is iPhone only, on iOS 26 or later: there is no iPad build and no Apple Watch app.
Pairing, about a minute
- Open Droppy on your Mac
It lives in the menu bar and in the notch.
- Go to Settings, General, Droppy Sync
Create a Sync Library if you have not already.
- Choose Pair iPhone
Your Mac shows a QR code, with the link written out under it.
- Scan it, or paste it
Confirm on the phone. Camera is the only permission it asks for, and nothing joins your library without you approving it there.
How the encryption works
Your Mac creates the key and keeps it in its Keychain. It reaches your iPhone inside the pairing code you scan, and never reaches a server. Every record is sealed on the device before it is sent, so the server only ever holds what it cannot read. A pairing code works once, then expires.
What syncs
Six stores, both directions. Change something on either end and the other catches up on the next pass.
Managing the library
- Revoke a device from either end. It immediately loses access to the Sync Library. Content it already downloaded stays on it, and pairing it again needs a new code from the Mac.
- Reset Sync Library deletes the library from the server and starts a fresh one on this Mac. Nothing on the Mac is deleted and other devices keep what they downloaded, but every device has to be paired again.
- If your license lapses, the pairing survives and Droppy says so, instead of quietly unpairing the phone.
