Clipboard

Every copy you make, kept and searchable, with the app it came from. Open it from anywhere with a shortcut and paste something from three days ago.

History holds text, rich text, links, images, colors and file references. Entries can be pinned, favorited and tagged, and text recognized by OCR is indexed alongside the image it came from, so searching for a word in a screenshot finds the screenshot.

Using it

  • Open history with the shortcut you record on the Shortcuts page. It works from any app.
  • Search by typing. With auto-focus search on, your first keystroke opens the search field already carrying that character; with it off, nothing is focused at open, so the arrow keys navigate and Esc closes in one press.
  • Type filters narrow the list to one kind of entry from a rail beside it.
  • Copy + favorite is a second shortcut that copies an entry and stars it in one press.
  • Item shortcuts act on the selected entry, and only work while the clipboard window is open and focused.

Options

Clipboard layoutNew is the modern bottom strip; Legacy is the previous layout, kept for people who preferred it.
Reject duplicatesSkips re-copies of text, URLs or colors already in history instead of bumping them to the top.
Titles and source appShow each entry's title on a blurred pill, and the icon of the app it came from beside it.
TagsLabel entries so a set stays together and stays findable.
Clear all except pinnedDeletes every entry except the pinned, favorited and tagged ones.
Clear history on quitWipes history and removes it from disk when Droppy quits.

Privacy

Clipboard history never leaves your Mac unless you turn on Droppy Sync, and then it is sealed on the device before it is sent. Droppy honours the system flag apps use to mark a copy as concealed, so password managers do not end up in your history.
