Show notifications in your notch

Bring notifications into the notch HUD with app-aware display options. It helps you triage incoming updates quickly while keeping interruptions compact and controlled.

How to use it

  1. Turn it on and choose which apps it captures. Everything else keeps using the macOS banner.
  2. Under System integration, choose how notifications arrive. Instant shows each one in the notch at once and needs Screen Recording and Accessibility; keep desktop banners on for your apps. Standard needs no extra permission: turn banners off for your apps in macOS Notifications settings, and Droppy shows each notification a few seconds later.
  3. Set an auto-dismiss delay, and pick which Focus modes hold banners back.
  4. Reply to iMessage, WhatsApp and Telegram straight from the notch. Messages replies need Messages access; the notification store needs Full Disk Access.
  5. Discord notifications get Reply in Discord, which takes you straight to that exact chat in the Discord app so you can reply there, the way a click on Discord's own banner does. Discord's notifications have no reply action, so Droppy cannot send for you. Going to the exact chat needs Accessibility access and works while Discord's own banner for that message is still up, about five seconds; after that, or when several Discord messages arrive as a group, the button says Open Discord and opens the app. Set Discord's notifications to Persistent in System Settings to keep the exact chat one click away for as long as the notification shows.

Workflows

Triage without leaving fullscreen

A notification arrives in the notch, you read it, and you swipe it away. The fullscreen app never loses the frame.

Answer a message in three seconds

Click the notification, type the reply inline, send. Auto-hide after replying puts the notch back the way it was.

Tips

  • No macOS banner appears in either mode: Instant keeps it off screen, Standard has macOS skip it. Instant uses Standard until both of its permissions are allowed. Persistent alerts and notifications Droppy cannot display keep their native banners.
  • Turning desktop banners off in macOS removes the fast capture source. Droppy can still read saved notifications, but they may arrive later.
  • Per-app filtering is the setting that makes this bearable: capture the two apps you care about, not all of them.
  • Apple Mail live alerts are a separate switch, because Mail's own notification behaviour is unusual.
  • The lock screen chip shows the count and the latest message.
