I spent the night going through every open bug on The Trench and every crash and slowdown report your Macs sent in, then stress tested the notch, the clipboard, the floating player and screenshots. This beta is what came out of it.
Menus that answer right away
Right-click a clip, a shelf item, a Command Center tile or the menu bar icon and every row lights up under the pointer the moment you move, even when another app is in front. When the menu closes, your keys go back to where you were typing.
Fewer freezes, one less crash
Droppy could stall for up to 16 seconds while AirPods connected, and the notch paused while a confirmation dialog was open. Both are gone, and so is a crash on macOS 15 when a Thunderstorm extension showed an icon.
Noise control in the notch
Switch your AirPods between Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Adaptive and Off, and the notch now shows which mode you just picked.
Fixes you will notice
Audio Control no longer lets an app play at full volume for a few seconds after your Mac wakes, and widget shortcuts open their widget on the first press. On top of that, 47 more fixes cover the floating player, screenshots, renaming in the File Tray, the notch, AirPods, Wi-Fi and WhatsApp.
Lighter on your battery
A closed floating player now fully stops its audio capture, motion artwork and pointer tracking, and the shutter sound lets go of the audio output once it has played. The screenshot editor also opens faster from a capture card, the clipboard or Edit image.
Small things
Collapse delay has a new Instant option, Cleaner finds more leftovers when it uninstalls an app, and 20 smaller refinements make Clipboard write less to disk, the File Tray smoother and Droppy quieter when nothing is open.
