Element Capture used to be a bar of buttons you had to aim at. This beta replaces it with a radial menu: hold the shortcut, glide to a mode, let go. The recording under this post shows the menu and the editor.
Hold, glide, let go
The menu takes area, window, fullscreen, scrolling, OCR and the color picker. OCR runs through the OCR droplet, so its language and history settings apply. Settings, Element Capture shows the same menu live, and a click on any button picks what it starts.
Captures can land on the clipboard, in a folder or in Droppy Cloud, with the file name pattern under Folder. Five smaller additions ride along, among them an animation speed for the clipboard and a window highlight while you drag out an area.
Banners you asked to keep
The Notifications droplet has a new switch that lets WhatsApp and Telegram through while a Focus mode is on, so a chat you are waiting for still reaches the notch.
The external display was lying
A reader sent two recordings from an external monitor in Notch style: the HUD grew to size and sat empty for a second, and the AI coding chip vanished and grew back on every key press. Both are gone, and the fix reaches a MacBook without a notch too.
On macOS 27 I closed the last ways a control measured mid layout could quit the app, including the meeting call chip on an external display. The meeting bar's mute, camera, share and leave buttons work again in Teams and Google Meet when macOS refuses to bring the app forward.
Sync that stops hoarding
Droppy Sync hashed a large Shelf, Basket or clipboard item in one piece and re-zipped folders on every pass, which reached 11 GB of memory on one Mac. It streams now and skips what the server would reject. Fifty four more fixes sit underneath, across Element Capture, the edge sliders, media artwork, notifications, Settings and the editor.
Glass where it belongs
The screenshot editor's sidebar, its Backgrounds pane, the Export button and the Add text prompt now use the glass and cards you know from Settings, so the editor stops looking like a separate app.
The edge sliders run on a single spring, so the capsule, its icon and the fill move as one, and live HUD content such as the meeting timer and the AI coding ring starts moving the moment its HUD has unfolded.
Thunderstorm lets go of its file index after ten quiet minutes, Sync writes far less to disk per upload, and fourteen smaller passes cover Element Capture, the All-in-one menu, the clipboard, the menu bar and Apple Notes sync.
