One five-star review from March 2025, and a listed price of $14 one-time.

Gumroad shows a strong, real average. The useful detail is in the 11 written reviews of three stars or fewer, because they agree with each other.

On Droppy

Droppy lets you choose per display: grow out of the notch on a MacBook, float as an island on the monitor beside it, and set whether hovering opens it on the main Mac, external displays or both.

Updating does not always work.

The update link always leads to the purchase page.

On Droppy

Droppy updates itself. A new release arrives as a live activity in the notch and as a card in Settings with its notes, and your settings, clipboard and file tray carry across. Homebrew users can also update with brew upgrade.

Our verdict: DynamicLake is well liked, with rough edges on displays and updates.

  • 4.7 from 160 Gumroad ratings, with praise for its features, its look and a developer who answers.
  • The 11 written reviews of three stars or fewer agree: crashes with external displays, an updater that fails, and details that go missing.
  • There is no free trial of the full app, so you find out after paying, with 14 days to ask for a refund.
  • Droppy costs less, covers 2 Macs and you can try every feature free for 3 days first.
