Dock Previews

An app's windows, right above the DockUpcoming update

An app's windows appear immediately over the Dock's name label when you hover its icon, using your chosen Droppy floating surface. Close, minimize or fill a window without opening it first. Folders, files and apps with no windows show a name pill in the same place. The panel follows bottom, left and right Docks and closes when you leave or the Dock hides.

What it does

  • Large live previews or a compact list of window titles
  • Native window buttons above or on each preview
  • Replaces the Dock's name labels
  • Minimized windows marked with a glass pill and hidden-eye symbol
  • Independent switch and settings, no Window Switcher required

How to use it

  1. Add Dock Previews from Settings, Droplets and allow Accessibility so it can follow the Dock and list windows.
  2. Hover an app's Dock icon. Its windows appear immediately above a bottom Dock, or beside a left or right Dock, covering the Dock's name label.
  3. Move into the panel and click a window to bring it forward. Its native window buttons close, minimize or fill that window.
  4. Move away to dismiss the preview. It also closes when the Dock hides. Folders, files and apps without windows show a name pill.

Workflows

Choose the amount of detail

In Dock Previews settings, choose Previews for large window pictures or List for compact rows of titles.

Put the buttons where you prefer

Choose Above the window or On the window under Window controls. List style keeps the buttons in each row.

Bring back a minimized window

Keep Show minimized windows on. Minimized previews carry a glass label and a centered crossed-out eye. Click one to restore it.

Tips

  • Allow Screen Recording to see live previews. Without it, the preview shows the app's icon. A minimized window may keep its last available picture.
  • Dock Previews and Window Switcher are separate droplets. Either works with the other switched off, and each keeps its own settings.
  • The panels follow the floating finish selected in Theming, including Liquid Glass, Dynamic Glass and Black.
  • Preview capture runs only while the panel is visible.
